(this was originally a video, but I did not edit the video on time before Ina’s afterparty, so I’m gonna upload the script instead hehehe)
So the new EP from Ina has dropped, and here are some of my quick thoughts.
About the name and cover art of the album.
This album was teased back in November 2024, and on the name as well as the cover art of the album, there were a lot of hints about what it is.
First, the name "re:VISION". There are two ways to interpret this name:
- Considering "re" and "vision" as two separate words
- Considering "revision" as the whole word
and each of these interpretations has its own merits.
First, let's talk about the revision interpretation. To revise is to make alternations to something so that it would become better. In this context, I think it means going back to the past to change something. Before the release of the whole album, we have seen this happened in Temari and mentioned in TAKO∞TAKOVER, so we know that it's possible.
So that means there is something in the past that is worth making changes to, or something that Ina wants to do but wasn't able to. That brings us to the second interpretations. "Re" is again, and "vision" is to see. So "re:VISION" in this interpretation can mean "see something again." And we know exactly who Ina wants to see again: The Wahtcher.
So, if this understanding of the name is correct, Ina is trying to change the past so that she can see the Wahtcher one more time.
Now that we understand the name of the album, let's move on to the artwork of the album and live.
The album artwork shows Ina standing in front of a picture frame with tentacles reaching out from within. And if something can go out of it, I think it makes sense to think that she can go into it. It could be that this would be the portal for Ina to go back into the past.
The live cover art for Drawn to Dawn is also really interesting. Here we can see a heterochromia Ina wearing a new outfit and holding a staff. But the interesting thing is in the announcement trailer, we can see a different version of it. A version with normal-eyed Ina.
What this tells me is that someone is going to possess her. Someone apparently very mischievous. And the color of their eyes suggests to me that she could be the Wahtcher. Specifically, the Wahtcher after she was trapped in the place beyond the void. Why? Because the pinkish color of her eyes is different than the bright red eyes that she had at the beginning of Temari and more in line with the color pallete that she had at the end of Temari when she was being trapped in the place. She doesn't have a body in the real world any more, which is the reason she has to possess Ina in the first place.
So, from the name and the cover artwork alone, we can kind of see what the plot is going to be about: Ina will use the picture frame/portal to go to the past, fish the Wahtcher out, and then, the Wahtcher will fuse with Ina and become like a combined entity. That's my guess, at least.
The three new songs
TAKO∞TAKOVER
TAKO∞TAKOVER is the first new song from the album, and the story in that song is bleak. At least for anyone who is not Ina or the Takodachi. It shows a world where everything is controlled by Ina, and she has gone a little bit maniacal, capturing and turning people into Takodachi anywhere and anytime she wants. And apparently she is being very successful, turning more than 80 million people into Takodachi already. But aside from being a very meme-y, catchy and fan-service song, there are some clues that we can deduce from TAKO∞TAKOVER.
First, "Ichi" and "Hachi", or one and eight. This is the one thing in the song that is being repeated over and over again.
"So it all goes back to eight and one
It's only world domination, and we've just begun"
I believe these are code names or a way for the cultist to refer to Ina and the Wahtcher back in the cult. Because when you're experimenting on and killing a lot of children, it doesn't make sense to give them distinct, memorable names. It makes more sense to refer to them as numbers because it would be easier and have less emotional baggage that way.
I was really tempted to think that this was the worst possible ending, and that Ina has snapped and really gone off the deep end. But this incessant repeating of 1 and 8 is the reason why I ultimately think that is not the case. She is rapidly turning the world into Takodachi for a specific reason. And that reason, I believe, is revealed towards the end of the song.
"Rewriting all of history in urgency".
We know that the power of the Ancient One can turn back time. It could be that the more people joining the cult, the more powerful this ability would become. At the end of the video, we see two things:
- Ina has "won the war" and has successfully taken over the world.
- She is not happy or chipper about it. She's stoic, and, judging by the fact that she's opening the Ancient One, she is using her power to do something.
And from what we got before, I think we know what she's doing. But why is she trying to do this so much, almost desperately? Well, I think the next song solves that.
Takodachi no Uta
"Damn, this just makes me depressed!"
That is what I have to say about this song on stream. It's a bittersweet song about a lonely Ina. She's waiting for someone who she knows for a fact that wouldn't return. And listening to it a couple more times, I really wonder: Is there some kind of real-life equivalent that led to the creation of this song? Because you don't write something this heartfelt out of thin air.
(quote a part of the song)
It really pulled at my heartstrings, and admittedly, this is my favorite out of the new songs. But anyway, I think this song follows or happened at the same time as VIOLET. No matter what theory we're following, at the end of Temari, Ina is given the Ancient One, and she managed to escape certain doom. But what happened after that is her growing up without her family, one that she loved dearly. In VIOLET, this love is focused more on the father and the religious side of things, while in Takodachi no Uta, it's all about her sister. It talked about how much she loved her, how lonely she feels without her, and the memory she holds so so close to her heart. It really show how much her sister means to her. When we strip away all the supernatural beings, the time travelling and such, we just have two siblings, longing for each other. I have siblings myself, and I can't imagine what would happen if they're taken away from me.
Abyssal Hymn
This comes in pair with Takodachi no Uta. One is about feelings, and the other is about action. The whole thing sounds like a song on a boss level, when a raid is coming to an end, and we're about to fight the big bad. If Takodachi no Uta sounds like it is referring to Violet, then Abyssal Hymn sounds like it's referring to Temari. This is what was going on on the Wahtcher's mind when she was about to turn back time and save Ina. Among the new songs, this is the one that references back to previous works the most.
However, it's not just that. Even though most of the song sounds like it's from the perspective of the Wahtcher, there are parts of it that strangely sounds like Ina's perspective.
This sentence is especially peculiar. Sus, if you will. "All voices raise in prayer, everywhere." sounds like it's referencing TAKO∞TAKOVER. Regardless, it sounds like a preparation for a big fight! Everyone is here, Ina, the Wahtcher, every takodachi, maybe even the rest of Myth! Let's go, let's beat some ass! I bet the next song will be just as hype!
(VIOLET (Acoustic ver.) plays.)
Eh?
Afterword
Yea, so I said this on the reacting stream, but I believe that there will be another song released on the live itself, or there will be some kind of stage play happening, because there is no final arc of this story yet, we haven't seen (or, heard) the fuse. Which is a very bold move all things considered, since that means leaving a song out of the EP, or having a stage play live. Either way, it's gonna be great. This whole EP has been a blast for me. For the entire year up to this point, TEMARI still lives in my brain rent-free, I still theorize of what, who, where, when, why, how things happened on a daily basis. The "who" part especially hard, because for the life of me, I couldn't figure it out. That's all I have for you today. If you have a high tolerance of rambling and unorganized thought, I suggest checking out the
reacting stream, it has a lot of details that I had to leave out for the sake of brevity. If you want to get into Temari theorymaxxing, a lot of clues can be found on my
Figma whiteboard, which I will leave the link on the video description below. Until then, good morning, afternoon, evening, it’s probably Takotime, you should go check Ina’s afterparty stream now.
